Album reviews

Missy Elliot – “Under Construction”The new slimmer “Misdeameanor” has released another masterpiece with her latest album released this week. “Work It”, the first single off the album has skyrocketed to the top of the charts and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. Producer Timbaland is back with his familiar style on her track, “Space Invader”. Other artists appearing on the album include Beyonce’ Knowles and Jay-Z. Elliot also has a tribute to Lisa *Left Eye* Lopes on her album with the remaining members of TLC. Critics say that “Under Construction” is Elliot’s “sturdiest creation yet”.

TLC – “3D”Speaking of TLC, Missy wasn’t the only one to release an album this week. Although it had to be tough, the surviving members of TLC have released a new album titled, “3D”. This LP, which is their fourth album, features a star-studded cast of producers including the Neptunes, Babyface and Timbaland. The album is full of the right balance of craziness, sexiness and coolness, we have come to expect from TLC.

Fat Joe – “Loyalty””Loyalty” is the newest album from one of hip-hop’s self-acclaimed sex symbols, Fat Joe. Joe’s first single, “Crush Tonight” is doing well on the charts. The album is truly a sample of Joe’s musical evolution. Many critics believe this album is bringing Fat Joe into musical maturity. Artists on the album include Ginuwine, Remy Martin, Tony Sunshine and Scarface.

Justin Timberlake – “Justified”For many of you, the wait is finally over. The lead man of N’Sync has released his solo debut, “Justified”. Timberlake has found a hip-hop flava with this new album. He has some of hip-hop’s greatest producers behind him, including the Neptunes and Timbaland. Many critics say Timberlake is reminescent of a young Michael Jackson. One thing is for sure, Timberlake is no longer that cute little blonde Mousketeer. He is definitely coming into his own.

Tupac Shakur – “Better Dayz”Tupac’s newest album, a double-CD, is expected to be released this month and it should be in stores the beginning of next month. The album features the new hit single, “Thug Mansion”. The album will include more than 20 songs. Artists featured on the album include NAS, Trick Daddy, Tyrese, Mr. Biggs and Mya. The fact that Shakur is still releasing albums more than six years after his death shows his true level of contribution to hip-hop.
