Yesterday was the start of a two day run of Dances at Eight by SHSU’s dance department.
Dances at Eight is a collection of pieces that are produced, choreographed and performed by members of Chi Tau Epsilon, the honorary dance society, as well as other SHSU dance students in order to raise scholarship money for the dance department.
Anne Degollado, a senior and the president of Chi Tau Epsilon, is overseeing the production of the event. She is excited about the student-run event, saying, “everyone is working really hard and doing a great job.”
The evening promises an eclectic mix of dance styles throughout the evening including latin, hip hop, lyrical, ballet and jazz. Students have choreographed pieces with themes anywhere from a narrative of their life to pure entertainment dance.
With tickets at the low cost of only $5, and the money going to the dance scholarship fund, there is no reason to not experience the talent of the SHSU dance department. This student-run event shows the wide range of abilities of Chi Tau Epsilon and the dance department.
Dances at Eight is Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the AB3 Theater.
