Martin to show his “True Colors”

The Society of Success and Leadership Speaker Series will present Joe Martin on Feb. 25 in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom at 5:45 p.m.

Martin’s speech entitled “What Are Your True Colors?” will be a non-politically correct talk on racism. He will speak about five reasons racism exists and how to take action against it.

Martin will also invoke listeners to see how racism invades their everyday lives. He will instruct listeners on how to free themselves from unconscious prejudice and to encourage them to find out their true colors.

The speech will include the real life story about two college roommates, a Miami hood rat and a Alabama redneck, who became best friends after learning from one another. The story talks of race, cultural and economic differences, and diversity.

Student Activities student assistant Tiffany Thomas heard Martin speak last year about self reflection. She stated his speech was very inspiring.

“He’s excellent,” Thomas said. “It was about motivating oneself for your call – your purpose in life.”

Martin is a professor, author, speaker and educational consultant. He is also founder of Real World University, the largest student success center on the Internet.

Author of the top-selling book “Tricks of the Grade”, Martin has also presented “Living a Life Based On Purpose.”

Martin was voted Speaker of the Year by the Association for Promotion of Campus Activities and has appeared on many television and radio talk shows. He has been featured in several newspapers including USA Today, the Miami Herald and the Atlanta Constitution.
