Nail guns, vacumn cleaner thefts and alcohol related incidents top police report

Feb. 25While conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of 15th Street and Avenue J, an officer determined that the driver of the vehicle, a male 19-year-old university student, was in possession of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was cited for the offense of Minor in Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage and he was released at the scene.Feb. 24While conducting a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Sam Houston Avenue, an officer determined that the driver of the vehicle and his passenger were both intoxicated. The driver was a male 21-year-old university student while the passenger was a male 21-year-old non-student. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Walker County Jail. While at the jail, the driver refused to submit a breath specimen for testing purposes. The driver was booked for the offense of Driving While Intoxicated. The passenger was booked for the offense of Public Intoxication.A female resident of White Hall reported that her wallet had been stolen from her purse. The wallet contained her drivers license, university identification card, a Mastercard credit card and $20 in cash.A faculty member of the Industrial Technology Department reported that three pneumatic nail guns are missing from the Wood Shop. The nail guns are valued at $1,050.A male resident of Randel House reported that someone broke the window of his room. Feb. 23An officer was dispatched to the University Hotel in reference to a subject refusing to pay his bill. Upon arrival, it was determined that the individual, a paroled convict from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, owed payment for a one night stay. The individual refused to pay and was taken into custody and transported to the Walker County Jail. The subject was booked on the offense of Theft of Service, a Class B Misdemeanor. A representative of the Custodial Department reported a vacuum cleaner missing from the Conference Center at the Gibbs Ranch Complex. The vacuum cleaner is valued at $189.An officer was dispatched to Creager House in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the officer located the subject, who was identified as a 22-year-old male non-student. This subject was highly intoxicated and was taken into custody. Subject was transported to the Walker County Jail and was booked for the offense of Public Intoxication.While conducting a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 19th Street, an officer determined that the driver of the vehicle, a male 18-year-old non student, was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was taken into custody at this time. While impounding the drivers vehicle, officer found a quantity of alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Walker County Jail and booked for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence-Minor and Minor in Possession of Alcoholic Beverage.
