To whom it may concern,
I was very upset and disappointed that there was no mention of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) comeptition held at the University of Houston last week from the 6th-9th of November.
3 states competed, and many of the SHSU students entered made it into the semi-finals. 3 students made it to the finals. Brendan Emig, a Sophomore Vocal Performance major, placed first in his section. His section was comprised of all sophomore level men in all 3 states. I believe that to be quite an accomplishemnt, for Brendan, his voice teacher, and SHSU. The other two students tied 3rd in their respective divisions. Still that is an incredible achievement.
I don’t believe that the Music College is getting the attention or credit it deserves. It would mean alot to the members of the Music college if there was some mention of their incredible talent in the upcoming edition of The Houstonian.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
Yours sincerely,Kate Carstens(INB major).
