Students to gather from across the state to lobby State Legislature for Environmental Protection

(Austin, Texas) The Alliance for a Clean Texas- a network of 21 environmental, consumer, student and religious groups representing over a quarter million Texans- will host a Lobby Day on March 3 and a lobby and issue training on Sunday, March 2. “I am sick and tired of all this pollution and forests cutting, I want my children to grow up in an healthy and clean environment,” said Laura, a UT Biology junior “If we don’t start doing something now, it’s going to be too late”. The groups will meet on Sunday, March 2 for a training session hosted by Texas Impact during which participants will learn about “Priority Issues” and “How to Lobby”. The meeting will be at the University Presbyterian Church 2203 San Antonio Austin, TX 78713 (NE corner of 22nd and San Antonio, park for free at University CO-OP). On Monday, March 3 the groups will meet at the Texas Capitol at 8:30am and will lobby visit their Senators and House Representatives. They will then set meetings with members of the House and Senate environmental committees. At 11am they will hold a water rally on the South steps of the Capitol. All lobby day events are free and open to anyone who wants to protect Texas’s environment and natural heritage! We will arrange places here to sleep for students who are not from Austin.
