Women’s GolfJennifer Foote, a freshman from Conroe, was the runner-up in the individual medalist competition in her first collegiate tournament as the Bearkat women placed second in the team standings at the Nicholls State Colonel Collegiate women’s golf tournament at Bay Saint Louis, MS.Birmingham Southern won the team title with a 306-305–611 total. The Bearkats finished just four strokes behind with a 307-308–615 score. Three other Southland Conference squads were in the 12-team field including McNeese State (4th), Nicholls State (5th), and Texas State-San Marcos (8th).
Men’s GolfJeremy Dean, a senior from Houston / Jersey Village, shot a two-under 73-71-70–214 to pace the Sam Houston State men’s golf team to a ninth place finish at the Southern Mississippi Raising Cane Classic in Hattiesburg, MS.Austin Peay State won the team championship with a 56-hole total of 844. Other Southland Conference squads in the event included Southeastern Louisiana (3rd) and McNeese State (9th).
Cross CountryBoth the Sam Houston State men’s and women’s cross country teams placed third in the annual Rice Invitational Cross Country Classic in Houston Saturday, Sept. 13.Sarah Hershman was the top finisher for the Bearkat women with a 15:39 time for eighth place in the intercollegiate standings. Isai Llanes placed fourth in the men’s race with a time of 19:35.
