Spring Fling activities planned for next week

Program Council and the department of Student Activities will give students a chance to take a break from school with Spring Fling activities April 2-4. The three-day events will lead up to Midnight Mayhem, a night of games co-sponsored with the department of Recreational Sports on April 4. It will build up to Wednesday, which is the big night, student assistant Julie Marceaux said.Midnight Mayhem will include making music videos, funny photos and wax hands, as well as inflatable games such as the bungee run. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Health and Kinesiology Center and continue until midnight. With the exception of Midnight Mayhem, events will be held during the day, since many students leave campus in the afternoon and do not return, Marceaux said. We tried to make everything during the day to let students enjoy being on campus while theyre here, she said.On Monday students can experience the Amazing Human Gyro from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Lee Drain Building mall area. The gyro is a large ball that spins around while a person is inside. Marceaux said the gyro is supposed to be a lot of fun, and has been on campus before. Free food and cotton candy will also be available. The Panhellenic council will hold an open house on sorority hill from 4-5:30 p.m. that day as well, Marceaux said.An organizations fair will provide free pizza and information to students in the LDB mall area from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday. That event is sponsored by the Lowman Student Center, which is providing the food.Climbing the Notorious Rock Wall from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the LDB mall will be one of Wednesdays events. Marceaux said this inflatable rock wall has been on campus in past years. All events are free to students. For more information, contact Program Council or Student Activities at 294-3861.
