Student Organizations Board to hold meetings

The Student Organization Board will be meeting to finalize and approve organizations that are seeking to become an official recognized student organization by Sam Houston State University. Chan Ked, who works for student activities, said the Student Organization Board is a committee of random faculty members and students who make decisions concerning the granting of new student organizations. Chan said the purpose of the meeting is for students to discuss why they want to start the organization, the rationale of the organization and the purpose of the organization. The committee will then decide if they want to grant the organization full recognition.The Student Organization Board will be meeting Tuesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday, March 1 from 2-5 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room 213 of the Wilson Building both days.Bearkat Brigade, Beta Alpha Psi, Etta Sigma Gamma, Forensic Clinical Psychology Student Organizations, India Student Association, Millennium Models, Mind’s Theatrical Association, Pi Kappa Delta, Kappa Psi Omega and Sigma Alpha will be meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The Sam Houston Organization Supporting Women and Minorities in Science, SHSU Lacrosse Club, SHSU Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, SHSU Film Forum, SHSU Karate Club, S.T.A.R.S. and The Talented Tenth will be meeting on Thursday, March 1.If you are interested in starting an organization at Sam Houston you must have at least five members, an on campus advisor and the organization should not be similar or affiliated with another organization here on campus.
