On Wednesday, March 7, Career Services will sponsor the spring Teacher Job Fair that will be held in Johnson Coliseum from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.One hundred fifty-eight school districts will be in attendance at the event, which provides an opportunity for interested students to interact with schools and apply for jobs. Anyone interested in a teaching position is invited to attend the job fair.Students should bring copies of their resume and dress appropriately. Ray Goins, the student assistant in charge of job fairs, said to dress as you would for an interview because some of the school districts will actually hold interviews. Students should plan on bringing multiple copies of their resume according to how many schools they plan on talking to.Goins said most of the school districts that will be in attendance are from Texas. A list of districts attending is available at: http://www.shsu.edu/~ccp_www/Teacherjobfair.htm.The high number of districts attending is due to a shortage of teachers and the reputation of the teacher education program at SHSU. Goins said that a vacancy list will be passed out at the job fair with what the districts are looking for.”We have been maxed out for two weeks. People are still calling, but we can’t accept any more,” Goins said. Goins also said Career Services can help students with writing their resume.
