The volleyball team went one and two last week with a win against Texas Pan American and losses against Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.The Kats defeated Texas Pan American in a series of five exciting games, scoring 30-27, 23-30, 30-20, 25-30, 15-10.Carrie Sartain totaled 23 kills in 52 attempts and had 25 digs to lead SHSU in the victory.Teri Palmer put 20 kills in the book. The Kats fell to SFA in three games 30-11, 30-28, 30-25.Liz Dahlstrom led the Kats with 10 kills while Dana Jefferson and Sartian posted 8 and 7, respectively.Texas A&M Corpus Christi defeated SHSU in three games 30-24, 30-28, 30-28.Sartain posted 12 kills and Jefferson added 10 to lead Kat totals. The loss against SFA dropped the Ladykats’ Southland Conference standing to 7-10. The Ladykats take on Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos tonight at 7 p.m. The return to Johnson Coliseum Friday at 7 p.m. against Southeast Louisiana.The University of Texas San Antonio dropped two of three last week, bringing their SLC standing to 8-8, leaving the Ladykats a narrow window to enter into the playoffs.
