Students still seeking a job after graduation will have another opportunity to find one at the Business and Government Career Fair, which takes place April 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Johnson Coliseum.Representatives from over 60 businesses and government agencies will be at the fair, which is designed for students of all majors, according to the SHSU Career Services office.The field of law enforcement will be well represented at the fair as recruiters from police departments in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Waco, Arlington, Tyler, Bryan, Sugar Land and other Texas cities will be looking for students ready “to protect and serve.”For those looking for a job in the federal government sector, the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Department of Immigration and Naturalization, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Federal Bureau of prisons in Bryan and Houston will be represented on Wednesday.The state of Texas will also be out in force and have recruiters from the Department of Public Safety, Criminal Justice, the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission and other state offices at the coliseum.Opportunities to find jobs in the private sector will also be available with companies like Walgreens, Mervyn’s, AFLAC, Mary Kay cosmetics, Luby’s and KTRE-TV all slated to appear. For those looking to become the next Mattress Mack or that dude with the chain saw who screams “oooh,” the Mattress Firm will also be represented.
