With the holidays just around the corner, many people tend to think about religion. There are many religious organizations around campus that offer services and events not just for the holidays, but also throughout the semester. The Baptist Student Ministry offers lunch every Monday and Wednesday at noon. The lunch is free for first-timers and $1 for every lunch attended afterward. Every Thursday at 7 p.m. is Journey, where the ministry holds Bible study and worship.On Nov. 21, Brother Luck will perform a concert during Journey. There will also be a banquet on Dec. 3 to celebrate the end of the semester.All the proceeds from lunch and other events held through the school year go to raise money for summer missions. Students from the ministry will go to different camps and missions over the summer to help students all over the world.A Back to School retreat is planned for Jan. 24 and 25 at the Trinity Pines Conference Center. Tonight’s topic is on the Catholic view of priesthood.The topic for Nov. 14 is Mary and The Saints. The specific questions on the topic will be “Do Catholics worship Mary?” and “Why do Catholics pray to saints?”Future discussions will focus on the Pope and what the church teaches about the Bible. WF Hardcore takes a book of the Bible and looks at it in depth on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Thursdays at 7 p.m. is Thursday Night Live, where students can play games and hangout.The Methodist Christmas Party will be Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Wesley Foundation. There will be a gift exchange and free food.The spring semester offers a barbecue and the Folk Life Festival. There will also be a Methodist Retreat Conference in Palestine.
