It was established for both male and female college students who wanted to participate in the preservation of wetlands for waterfowl and many other wildlife species. Not only is SHSU Ducks Unlimited concerned about the preservation of wetlands but also is designed to train tomorrow’s leaders of Ducks Unlimited. The SHSU chapter consists of approximately 50 members and is continuingly growing. It is the fastest growing chapter in the University Ducks Unlimited Program. To become a member of the SHSU Ducks Unlimited chapter, prospects must be currently enrolled at SHSU, be a faculty or staff member of SHSU or be a graduate of SHSU. Membership dues are currently $15 per semester, and your initial membership will include a SHSU DU koozie and a window decal.Payment of dues also offers a full calendar of events that includes an annual dove hunt and guided duck hunts. Numerous social gatherings are also assembled to help the group expand on beneficial ideas. Spring time events for the program include the Trap and Skeet Fun Shoot.
