SHSU Hockey skates away with win, loss and tie

The Sam Houston State Inline Hockey Team skated away with a win, loss and a tie after competing this weekend in Conroe.The Bearkats are midway through the season with a record of 4-5-1.The Bearkat’s first game was against Tarleton State University. The lead seesawed between SHSU and TSU, and finally resulted in an 8-8 score. Shawn Hannon and Cullen Klingbail both scored three goals for the Kats. The Kats were ahead 8-7, but with one minute remaining in the 3rd period, TSU scored a late goal off of a face off to tie it up. In the second game of the night, SHSU made sure that it would not give up the lead by burying Northwood University. This game featured an offensive explosion as the Kats scored four goals less than two minutes into the game. Kevin Rindenow and Chad Hannon scored their first career hat tricks, which is three goals in a game, and goalie James Winton got his first win of the season as the Kats easily took the game 14-2.There was not much to celebrate as the Kats lost the final game of the weekend to first-place UT-Dallas 9-0. The Bearkat’s defense in the first period was poor, but looked much stronger over the next two periods, allowing only one goal.The Bearkats have the next weekend off, but will head to Spring on Saturday to take on Texas A&M-Commerce, TCU and LeTourneau University.
