The San Marcos Sladeo Saturday November 8
Saturday, November 8th the place to be in San Marcos is Rio Vista Park, 555 Cheatham Street, for the bi-annual San Marcos Sladeo. Hosted by the city of San Marcos and sponsored by the Power Olympic Outdoor Center the public is invited see and experience first hand the latest in kayak and canoe paddling skills, tricks, and equipment.
This event has been held each year since 1998 on the first weekend of April and the second weekend of November. This weekend’s activities will begin with participant orientation and main activities at noon.
Participants will be able to try out new boats and compete with other whitewater paddlers while non-participants will have a great view of the activities. Registration for participants will be $10.00; there is no charge to the general public. The Power Olympic Outdoor Center is now taking reservations by phone, 512-392-9910 or toll free 1-866-222-7998; on site registration will be available Saturday morning.
This is a great opportunity to take the challenge of the water and share the enjoyment of the river with fellow paddlers, says Ben Kvanli director of The Powers Olympic Outdoor Center. Ben invites all those interested to come experience The San Marcos Sladeo, this is a great way to learn from fellow paddlers and have a chance to earn prize money and plaques for the top three finishers in each division. The event will end with a participant potluck dinner.
