Excitement is building all over the State for the FIRE ON THE STRINGS BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL presented by the BAY AREA BLUEGRASS ASSOCIATION. This huge festival will feature two Texas State Championship contests (banjo and flat-pickin’ guitar), eight outstanding bluegrass groups from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, a special performance by a former National Flat-pickin’champion, AND it’s all set to happen on May 16,17, and 18 at Jellystone Park in Waller, Texas. The Texas State contests feature prize money of $1000 divided among the top 3 winners. Competition is being sponsored by Gibson Instruments and Pawless Guitars with the winners of both events receiving a new instrument: Gibson RB banjo, Gibson Advanced Jumbo guitar, Pawless Custom Made Texas redheart guitar. Featured festival artists include Peter McLaughlin and Chris Brashear, Lousiana Grass, Sandy Creek, LoneStar Bluegrass Band, Common Tyme, Pet Rooster, The Bluegrass Solution, White Dove and the Duhon Boys. The Stage Show begins at 6:30pm-12:00 Friday night, 1am-12:00 contests, 12:00 to 12:00 featured artists Saturday, 1-12:00noon Gospel Show Sunday.. So bring the family and come enjoy the festival, visit our craft and food vendors, and eat some delicious Texas barbecue by Hickory Hollow. Cost of the festival is $25($10-Fri/$15-Sat/$5/Sun) for the 3 day weekend for 12 and older, $3 a day for 12 and under or $5 for the weekend. Jellystone has hosted the Fire on the Strings Bluegrass Festival for several years and has great facilities including a swimming pool, 4 acre fishing lake, miniature golf course, and lots of beautiful trees for jamming and picking with your neighbors and YOGI BEAR.
