Football reloads with 26 signees

At the end of every year, college football teams say goodbye to seniors and thank them for their time and hard work. Every February, the first stage of the off-season comes to an end on National Signing Day.

The Sam Houston State Bearkats inked 26 recruits Wednesday, with an emphasis on a couple of positions they are looking for help at.

Four offensive linemen and three quarterbacks signed their letter of intent to become Bearkats, along with players at 19 other positions. Four of the players signed are transfers, while 22 are high school seniors.

“We signed 22 high school seniors and four transfers, and we are very pleased,” Bearkat head coach Ron Randleman said. “With eight defensive linemen, four offensive linemen and three quarterbacks among the group, we obviously addressed some areas we needed to address.”

Randleman said he is pleased with this year’s recruiting class, as well as the job the staff did in the recruiting process.

“The staff did a tremendous job again this year. We signed some quality student athletes who can come in and help us.”
