Volleyball team comes up empty in Louisiana road trip

The Sam Houston State volleyball team lost two games to Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana on the Bearkats’ longest Southland Conference road trip of the season Friday and Saturday. “We have had 14 games so far, and only three have been at home. The Nicholls State Colonels won in four games 30-13, 22-30, 30-24, 30-19 as Caley Carter led them with 23 kills. “Ever time you get on the court you have to be ready to play in volleyball because anyone can win on any given day,” said Coach Gray. The Bearkats were lead by Carrie Sartain who had 17 kills, Alisha Fowler with 15 and Chrissy Engle added 10. Saturday, the Southeastern Louisiana Lions defeated the Bearkats in four games 30-20, 30-26, 24-30, 30-21. Rhae Walderman led the Bearkats with 15 kills. Sartain added 14, and Fowler added 10. The Bearkats will be on the road again this Friday and Saturday against Stephen F. Austin State and Texas-Arlington.
