Sam Houston State University’s very own Orange Pride dance team, will have the first of two spring semester tryouts on Friday and Saturday at the Health and Kinesiology Center on campus.
The tryouts will begin on Friday promptly at 6 p.m. and last until approximately 9 p.m. The audition will continue on Saturday at 9 a.m., although the HKC doors will open at 8 a.m. for those who wish to practice.
Friday’s tryout will consist of learning a routine that will be performed Saturday in front of a three-member panel of judges who have been brought in from outside the university’s staff.
Appropriate dance attire is encouraged for all participants.
There are 16 potential spots currently available, but that does not necessarily mean that all 16 will be filled this weekend.
“Most likely not all the spots will be taken after the first tryout,” said current Orange Pride member Brittani Burress. “We still have another one (tryout) in June for girls who couldn’t make this one or need more time to practice.”
Any individual wishing to audition for a spot on Orange Pride must have a completed application, an official transcript and the required $5 fee.
All experienced and enthusiastic dancers are encouraged to participate.
