TW’s offers entertainment with ‘nicer’ atmosphere

Looking for something to do around town? TW’s Steakhouse, located on Huntsville’s downtown square, has the solution.

The steakhouse offers random weekly food and drink specials and an assortment of entertainment.

“We host a variety of shows,” said Woody Wallace, co-owner of TW’s.

John Charles Gussman, a local singer and SHSU student, opens the restaurant’s week with his musical performance. Gussman can be heard today from 9 p.m. to midnight.

“He is regular performer at TW’s and always draws a crowd,” Wallace said.

On Wednesday, the restaurant hosts its weekly College Night. According to Wallace, the full bar offers several drink specials that change from week to week. Everyone is welcome at the steakhouse, but only students 21 years of age and older are allowed in the bar area.

“We want a mature crowd to come out. We are not by any means a fine dining establishment, but we are one of the nicer restaurants,” Wallace said.

The events continue Thursday night with jazz and blues by Lindsey Chase. Friday night TW’s features musician Bob Stuart. The week comes ends on Saturday with guests Cass and Billy. All performers can be seen from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Customers can sit and drink or eat dinner while enjoying the entertainment.

“The food here is great. It blends in well with the atmosphere,” said Christopher Thomas, a cook and waiter for TW’s.

Thomas said the restaurant varies its daily specials but he recommends the lobster and steak special. He said the crawfish and snapper covered in rosemary wine sauce is another dish to brag about.

“We strive to make everything great but our specialty is steaks,” Wallace said.

A variety of steaks can be found on the menu, ranging from 7 ounces to 12 ounces. Every Monday and Friday, a steak lunch special is offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The main entre and two sides of choice are available for $6.95 during the special hours.

Wallace said the restaurant’s fried green tomatoes were also a popular choice. If you are not a red meat eater, TW’s also offers chicken, quail and fish.

“Our prices are reasonable. A 15 percent tip is not required of our customers, but we do require nice people,” Wallace said.

The restaurant’s patio is currently under construction. In a few weeks TW’s customers will be able to enjoy live bands out in the open with the addition of the new outdoor patio area.
