Brown earns All-Southland Conference honors

Kim Brown, sophomore forward from Houston/Cypress Creek, became the first Bearkat women’s soccer player to earn All-Southland Conference honors.Brown was named Honorable Mention All-Southland Conference after leading the Bearkats in scoring during Sam Houston State’s inaugural women’s soccer season in 2003.Brown scored 11 goals and was credited with assists on three other scores for SHSU during the 2003 season. Twice she scored four goals in one game – in a 15-0 victory over Texas Southern in Houston and in a 5-0 win over Grambling State in Huntsville.Brown also scored against Alabama, Oklahoma State, and in the Texas Southern game in Huntsville.Texas State and Northwestern Stateled with the number of members placed on the All-Southland Conference squad. Texas State place six, including “Freshman of the Year” Natalieholder. Southeastern-Louisiana placed four members on the first team including “Player of the Year” Kendra Oney.Stephen F. Austin’s Nicole Nelson took home “Coach of the Year” honors after guiding a young team to a second place conference finish.
