One of the most disappointing aspects of this University is the student body. These students will cry and complain about anything and everything. No matter what SHSU does to help the students, they gripe about it. They complained about the university screwing them because of the parking situation, so the university spent millions of dollars on a great parking garage, like the ones at more expensive schools. What happened? The students are now crying over how much it costs. Guess what, this stuff isn’t free! If you students want a free ride on a gravy train with biscuit wheels, go back home and have mommy and daddy pay for everything. This is the real world. Expect to pay for some of the nicer things. This brings me to last Tuesday’s paper. There was a great article about the new class rings. I have to say that I love the new look of the rings. I liked it so much I plan on saving up my money to buy one. I honestly think that the rings are well worth the price. In the “Word on the Street” section, all of these whining students griped about getting screwed by the school on the price of the rings. Stop being babies. Go back home and settle for wearing your $100 high school rings. Others wanted the school to give them the rings for free because they paid tuition. Hey guys, tuition pays for your use of the professors and the university facilities not for your jewelry. I know that not everyone feels this way, and I know that most students would rather have less expensive alternatives. Hey, I’d like them to pay for my ring also, but I know it’s not going to happen. I just am sick and tired of everybody expecting their tuition to pay for every luxury the school is gracious enough to try to offer us. They cry and moan about the problem and then complain about the solution (not just the cost, but all of the other aspects as well). I just would like to see the student body become more appreciative and complain less about the university. The bottom line is, if you don’t like it here, then leave. I don’t want you here, and I’m sure many others feel the same way.
