Recreational Sports hosted a turkey trot in the mall area yesterday from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.The turkey trot was open to all students, faculty and staff. Tina DeAses, Assistant Director of Wellness Programs, wrote that the object of the turkey trot was to predict the time it would to take to complete a course around the campus. Whoever came closest to their predicted time won. DeAses also wrote that prizes included a turkey, ham, stuffing, bag of potato chips, pumpkin pie and many other things.Anyone who participated had a chance to donate food or money to families in need. DeAses wrote that all of the food and money collected at yesterday’s turkey trot will go to The Good Shepherd Mission.DeAses wrote she deemed the turkey trot a success because anytime you can do something nice for someone else everyone wins. The spirit of Thanksgiving is being thankful for everything you have, and recognizing there are others not so fortunate who can always use a helping hand.
