New shuttle service transports students from Bowers stadium

Students who dread the long walk to school from the stadium parking lot will now have the convenience of utilizing the new shuttle service.

A new shuttle service began on Monday and will continue to operate every week, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shuttle service picks up students in the Bowers Stadium parking lot and exits the north side of the lot.

Col. Dennis Culak of the University Police Department said the shuttle goes west on Bearkat Boulevard, south on B.K. Marks Drive (formerly Avenue H), and then makes five stops on B.K. Marks Drive. It also stops at 17th Street, the central entrance to the library lot, the south entrance to the library lot, the south entrance to the coliseum lot and Bowers Boulevard and B.K. Marks Drive. The driver will then return the shuttle to the stadium lot and will continuously make that route.

The buses are provided by Brazos Transit, and Culak said the bus can seat up to 20 people.

The service is for students who park in the stadium parking lot, but students who live nearby and want to walk to the lot will also be able to use the shuttle service.
