PLANO, Texas – Sam Houston State University’s Chaterra Blake has been voted Aeropostale Women’s Athlete of the Week for Southland Conference indoor track and field competition.
Blake, a senior from Houston / Lamar, finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying and SHSU school record time of 8.43. She also finished ninth in the long jump with a season best mark of 19 feet, two inches at the Houston Indoor Invitational.
“Chaterra is one of a group of four senior women who are giving us great senior leadership this year,” SHSU head coach Curtis Collier said.
Next action for the Sam Houston State men and women’s track and field teams will be the 27th annual Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship to be held at the University of Houston indoor facility on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18
