“Bearkat Sports Report” broadcasts live from Johnson Coliseum tonight

KSHU-TV Channel 7’s Bearkat Sports Report will broadcast live from the floor of Johnson Coliseum this evening in celebration of tonight’s Southland Conference semifinal matchup between Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin. In the short history of the show, this will be the second time BSR has gone live, but tonight’s show will be the first ever live remote broadcast for the award-winning sports program.

The BSR team will preview the game between the Bearkats and the Lumberjacks, as well as provide an in depth report on the Kats’ victory over UT-Arlington on Tuesday. The show will take a look into the details of last Saturday’s game against SFA. An interview segment can also be expected from Bearkat personnel.

The planned broadcast is being considered a milestone for KSHU-TV as fiber optic capabilities have expanded the range of programming. Thanks to the cooperation of Computer Services and Sam Houston State University Athletics, the Bearkat Sports Report is looking towards its first show that fans can interact with.

The BSR team of Dustin Dyer, Brian Hernalsteen, Zach Schroeder and Alex Stivers will host the show, with executive producer Patric Sleightholm directing. The Bearkat Sports Report will air at 6:30 p.m., immediately following News 7 Live at 6.

BSR has already garnered an award in sports programming, and was recently named as a finalist for a national honor.

Bearkat Sports Report will end at 6:45 p.m.

Students and fans who are unable to attend can listen live to 90.5 The Kat with announcers Brian Hernalsteen and Zach Schroeder. The radio broadcast will begin at 6:50 p.m.
