PLANO, Texas – Luke Prihoda picked up two wins and a save as Sam Houston State swept Louisiana-Monroe in Southland Conference action over the weekend to earn recognition as SLC baseball “Pitcher of the Week”.
Prihoda, a junior transfer from Weimer, had a hand in all three of Sam Houston State’s victories over Louisiana Monroe. Prihoda got the win in relief in both Friday’s 4-3 and Saturday’s 5-4 wins, then picked up the save in Sunday’s 2-1 victory. Sunday, he entered the game with the bases loaded and one out and got a strikeout and a pop up to the catcher to get out of the inning. For the series, Prihoda had a 0.00 ERA, allowing no runs, no hits, striking out three, getting two victories and a save.
Third baseman David McLeod of Texas-Arlington, was the league’s baseball “Hitter of the Week” after going 12 for 19 (.632) with three doubles and four runs scored.
