Kats place 10th at Arkansas tournament

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Robert Gwin posted his fourth top 10 individual tournament finish of the 2005-06 season to lead the Sam Houston State University men’s golf team to a 10th place team finish at the University of Arkansas Little Rock First Tee Intercollegiate tournament Tuesday at Chenal Country Club.

Gwin fired a 54-hole score of 75-72-73–220 to place ninth. Austin Welch of North Texas won the individual championship with a four-under score of 70-70-72–212.

Lamar University edged Texas-Arlington in the team competition by two strokes. The pair were tied after 36 holes, but the Cardinals ended with a team total of 877 while UTA shot 879.

Other Sam Houston State finishes were Brandon Frankhouser 44th with a 231 and Graham Hoy and Stewart Bannatyne tied for 60th with 237.
