There are three events left as the fourth year of UniDiversity week, from the Office of Multicultural & International Student Services comes to an end Friday, April 7.
Students broke the ice, expressed viewpoints on discrimination within race and tasted Italy during the week.
Three events are left on the UniDiversity week calendar: “Study Abroad Information Fair” at 11:00 a.m. in the mall area, “The Sex Trade Revealed” at 2:00 p.m. in the LSC in room 315 and the “Diversity Think Tank Breakfast” Friday 9:00 a.m. in room 302 of the LSC.
“A lot of universities are requiring opportunities to study abroad. It is good for students to get a different aspect of culture and it’s important students get involved,” said Office of M.I.S.S. coordinator Jennifer Roberts.
Roberts stressed the fact that students will be working with people of other cultures in the work place after graduation. Learning about a different culture by studying abroad and experiencing a different culture first hand will better prepare students for the real world.
Students will have the opportunity to express their concerns about Sam Houston State University during the “Diversity Think Tank Breakfast.”
“During the ‘Think Tank’ we ask questions that rise from the course of the week. We talk about how Sam could be more diverse; we actually come up with different programs based on the different issues that student and faculty come up with during the think tank,” said Roberts.
