“Ice Age: The Meltdown” a chill film

The tagline reads “Kiss Your Ice Goodbye,” but the movie “Ice Age: The Meltdown” is here to stay in box offices. It exceeded expectations and brought in an estimated $70 million during its opening weekend and “helped Hollywood forget its latest slump.”

Diego, Manny and Sid returned ready to deliver laughs, animation and adventure to people of all ages. While on a journey to escape the approaching floods and melting ice that threatens their valley, the famous “Ice Age” trio meets up with another trio of characters, including two possums, Crash (Sean William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck) and another female mammoth (Queen Latifah). The ice is melting and the crew of highly acclaimed actors, actresses and TV personalities must unite together and warn everyone of the situation. From Jay Leno and Ray Romano to Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, the sequel has managed to create memorable characters and along the way teach important life lessons. Scrat brought tremendous laughter during the original movie and his unsuccessful attempts to once again get his acorn leaves the audience in stitches and demonstrates his perseverance.

When it was released in 2002, “Ice Age” attracted a loyal fan base, one that was eager for more acorn-loving, saber-toothed, unlikely heroes. After all, the story proved to be a successful portrayal of love and animation. A stupid sloth, a wooly mammoth, a saber-toothed tiger and a rather clumsy squirrel joined together to safely return a baby to his father. It was deemed “the coolest event in 16,000 years,” according to its directors, and Blue Sky Studios has assembled an untarnished resume of success, which “Ice Age: The Meltdown” has managed to sustain.
