New song spotlight

It certainly has been everything but a bad day for Daniel Powter. In just a matter of a few weeks, he has managed to wow audiences with his latest hit, “Bad Day,” and has appeared on several hit shows, including “The Today Show” and “Live with Regis and Kelly.” His breakthrough hit first appeared on “American Idol,” when audiences sang along to it during a slideshow of the latest contestant kicked off. Now the lyrics to “Bad Day” are as well-known as the alphabet.

Released in the United States earlier this year after making its’ debut in Europe, the song is already number one on The Billboards Top 100, Pop 100 and Hot Digital Songs lists. It is one of Daniel Powter’s newest hits on Now 62, his latest album, and it satisfies society’s desire for music that touches their hearts. It’s a song that illustrates how difficult a break-up can be for a couple, how hard it is to fake a smile and how so many people struggle with a bad day. It also offers much optimism along the way. It’s a music video that many argue is not typical because rather than showing “a guy chasing a girl, it’s about a guy and his piano.”

The thirty-something year-old, beanie wearing, green-eyed beauty certainly gives love a second chance with “Bad Day” and encourages listeners to tune their radios and stomp their feet to a different kind of a beat. He has proven himself as more than a pretty face, and the next time you have a bad day, “Sing a sad song just to turn it around!”
