Last Comic’ comedian takes on Sam

Program Council is hosting Comedy Club featuring comedian Tess Drake Wednesday in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom at 7 p.m.

Known for being a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2003, Ohio native Drake first found her comic roots while still in high school where she was voted both Class president and not surprisingly, Class Clown.

After graduating high school, she dropped her last name and moved to California to pursue her dream of someday becoming well known. While there, she was married for a total of 90 days. Instead of becoming bitter and angry, Tess turned her misfortune into laughs as she found herself writing routines that made fun of various elements in marital and dating situations.

While on the Last Comic in 2003, Tess earned a week’s immunity from being evicted from the Comedy House for raising the highest amount of money for a charity. In addition to staying another week on the show, Tess also received appearance as a celebrity reporter for “Extra.”

Tess’ love of making others laugh has launched her career to movie-star status. She has been a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” BET’s “Comic View,” as well numerous others.

With loads of routines behind her, Tess has a movie set to release in October titled, “Tess: Looking for my next ex-husband.” This is a comedy that generates stomach- grabbing laughter as she explains simple things such as: “Size really mattersespecially when it comes to diamonds.”

Being a well-built woman, Tess wants to let others know that she is proud of who she is, how she looks and says voluptuous women will one day inherit the earth.
