The University of Texas Longhorns will play host to the Bearkats of Sam Houston State this Saturday at Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in the first ever matchup between the two teams.
In what’s likely to be a tune up for the Longhorns, before they take on the 16th ranked Sooners next weekend in Dallas, the Bearkats hope to avoid a possible blow out to another Big 12 opponent in the last two years, losing to Texas Tech last year in Lubbock 80-21.
You can expect to see the Longhorns to come out firing, attempting to build a big lead early, so they can bench their starters in order to avoid injury.
Last week the Longhorns (3-1) opened Big 12 play with a win over Iowa State, 37-14. Freshman quarterback Colt McCoy went 18-23 with 2 touchdowns and an interception.
SHSU hopes to improve their 2-19 record vs 1-A opponents.
