Build a BEARkat

Program Council sponsored a free Build-A-Bear assembly line in the LSC Mall area yesterday in honor of homecoming week.

The first 200 students to the table were able to create their own “Bearkat Bear,” complete with Sam Houston State University t-shirt. Just like in the Build-A-Bear stores, students could choose from black, white or brown bears and stuff them themselves.

While stuffing the bear, the student could make a wish on a heart, enclose it in the bear and then stitch it up. A little SHSU shirt was then placed on the bear and a birth certificate completed the package.

The activity was on a first-come, first-serve basis, but that did not stop 50-plus students from standing in line for over half an hour for their chance to build their own Bearkat Bear.

Program Council’s bear activity is just one of the many homecoming-inspired events being sponsored on campus this week, and is not the last before Saturday’s homecoming game and festivities.
