DALLAS – Three men fleeing police Tuesday night crashed through a fence at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport before abandoning their car and running across two runways, authorities said.
The men fled on foot after leaving the car near a remote runway but were arrested when police caught them near a tarmac, an airport spokesman told Dallas-Fort Worth television station KXAS.
Airport officials temporarily shut down one runway and delayed the arrival of one incoming flight, KXAS reported.
Police had been pursuing the men for reckless driving about 8 p.m., the station reported. The chase continued to East Airfield Drive, a road that deadends at a security fence at a remote section of the airport, the airport official said.
The men face possible charges of evading arrest and unauthorized entry into an airfield operations area, the station reported.
An airport spokesman did not immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press.
