Wasting away again in Margaritaville

In an act that can only be described as courageous, selfless and downright foolish, three Houstonian editors risked their lives and livers to discover which restaurant serves America’s favorite Mexican beverage.

The categories for excellence were simple: each establishment was rated on a scale of one to five paws for their prices, selection, service and delectability. Any place that kept the chips coming was automatically awarded an extra star.

With the help of six restaurants and two patient designated drives, three eateries have officially been declared “the best bang for your buck.”

And the winners are…

In third place, Chili’s 4/5 by Editor in Chief Shawn Farrell:The GOOD: Awesome selection! Easily the best taste. Made me feel like a stud.The BAD: Can’t afford with couch change – sometimes can’t afford at all.Price range: $4.79 – $7.29Number of flavors: 15Specials: Happy Hour Mon-Fri with $3.99 margaritas.How Strong: Mild. Good to take parents to, but not enough alcohol for a bachelor party.

In second place, Jose’s 4.5/5 by Viewpoints Editor Kristin Edwards:The GOOD: Great specials. Outstanding service. ADAM ROGERS IS AWESOME!The BAD: Margaritas could be better, but for the price, it’s hard to complain.Price range: $.99 – $5.75Number of flavors: 3Specials: $.99 margaritas with any meal purchase!How Strong: More than eight could probably make you nibble on concrete.

Finally, in first place, Don Rafas 5/5 by Sports Editor Kenny Bybee:The GOOD: Nice and easy environment. Margaritas are cheaper than a bag of chips.The BAD: Bad location.Price range: $.89 – $2.00Number of flavors: 11Specials: $.89 with any meal.How Strong: We’re talking about a pretty good kick in the butt!
