With a 4-2 record, the Sam Houston State University Bearkats continue their current road swing with games at Southern Mississippi and Alcorn State. Sam Houston plays at Hattiesburg on Thursday and Alcorn State on Saturday. The Bearkats return home Dec. 6 to face Loyola Marymount before traveling again to face California-Irvine and UCLA on the road.
Sam Houston defeated both Southern Mississippi and Alcorn State in Huntsville a year ago. The Bearkats defeated Southern Mississippi 61-57. Jejuan Plair led the Kats with 18 points and nine assists. SHSU edged Alcorn State 51-50. Plair also was the leading scorer in that victory with 16 points.
Three Bearkats are averaging in double figures this season. Ryan Bright leads the team with 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. Aaron Wade and Jejuan Plair both are averaging 11.8 points per game. Plair, the Southland Conference’s assist leader as a junior in 2006, is handing out 6.5 assists per game this season.
Sam Houston State is averaging 75.7 points per game while allowing only 59.5. The Bearkats have held opponents to a .391 percentage from the field.
