The unofficial 2007 SGA election results were announced yesterday evening after two days of voting. President-elect Christopher Whitaker took the presidency with 682 votes, followed by Christopher Yancy with 525 votes and Michael Oder with 127 votes, according to a results sheet posted on the door of the SGA office after the election.
Whitaker’s running mates and previous fellow officers, Jason McKnight, Lauren Othold and Sarah Reed, won Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Results are not final until all petitions and appeals are processed by Friday, April 13th at 6:00 p.m. The official and complete results of the election can be found in Tuesday’s issue of “The Houstonian.”
After hearing the news of his apparent win, Whitaker said, “I’d first like to thank the student body for the honor of serving them again and everyone who supported me.”
“I’d like to thank my teammates for all their help during the campaign. We could not have done this without being a strong team. I’d also like to thank Mr. Oder for running a clean campaign and he’s certainly invited back next year to be an active senator,” he said.
“I can assure the student body that we will work just as hard for students next year as we did this year.”
