Doc’s Place new Huntsvegas hot-spot

Singing in front of a crowd can be exciting and intimidating, but now you do not have to participate in open mic night to show off your vocal skills in Huntsville.

Dr. Michael Peck and his business partner Dennis Moehr decided to re-open the location that was previously Bonanza Lounge after it closed its doors in July.

“It was a complicated and expensive endeavourer since I do not know anything about bars and I am not a drinker” said Moehr.

Fortunately, the entrepreneur duo is not alien to starting successful businesses. Dr. Peck and Moehr opened Peck Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Clinic 12 years ago in Huntsville, and Moehr has run several restaurants and Internet ventures including http://www.katclassifieds.com.

After careful consideration Dr. Peck and Moehr opened the bar under new management last month. In keeping with the comradery of the patrons that frequent this local favorite, the name Doc’s Place was chose by the “regulars.”

Doc’s Place offers karaoke Thursday thru Saturday nights to the good and the not so good performers that attend. The karaoke features mostly country, classic rock and alternative along with other miscellaneous tunes. DJ Meredith Todd says she is more than willing to acquire any song requests that may not be available.

Tommy Santana along with many others enjoy the intimate setting Doc’s Place offers to just hang around and have a few rounds with friends.

“I love singing here; there is a lot of talent here but no pressure to be the next American Idol either” said Santana.

For those of you that require some liquid courage before taking the stage, Doc’s offers $5.25 pitchers everyday except on Friday Ladies Night when they are $4.50 for everyone and wells are $2 for the ladies. If karaoke does not grab you, there is free pool and $1.25 draft beer every Wednesday.

Unfortunately, sorry kids, this hot spot is strictly 21 and up.

Doc’s is located next to Sam Houston Place hotel behind Diamond Shamrock on 45 South and offers a laid back atmosphere sure to encourage even the most embarrassed singer.
