In case you haven’t noticed, the first football game of the year is today at 6:00 p.m. in Bowers Stadium, and we’d really like you to be there.
There are many reasons to go to the game. First, we are going to kick all kinds of tail this season. If you don’t believe me, go to tonight’s game and see. We’re ranked 20th (at the moment) in the championship series and this team is jam-packed with talent. History shows that anytime we get a high-profile transfer into the QB position, we are going to the playoffs. And we have more than just a good QBs in Rhett Bomar and Brett Hicks, our O-Line is ROCK SOLID, TE Blake Martin is a pre-season All-American, defensive back Chris Brown just got here from UT, and our defense is going to be much more dominant this year. We have all the right ingredients for a historic season, BUT you will not see diddlysquat unless you actually go to the game!
Yes, I know. It’s Thursday and you have an appointment at the local watering hole. Just remember that it’s going to be there every Thursday until doomsday. The Fox has been here since 1973…some of you may have been conceived after a night at the Fox. Trust me; the bars will still be there. Besides, the game is at six, and you know you aren’t going to be at the Shenanigan’s until at least ten. That is plenty of time.
To celebrate the start of football season, and to show those new to campus how it’s done, RHA and SGA will be having a march to Bowers Stadium at 5:00pm tonight. We’ll start at the residence halls and meet at the music building where we will fall in behind the band and march to the stadium. Once we get there, the Cheerleaders are going to do a short Katfan 101. Be sure to wear orange and bring your loud voice. There’s a good chance you’re going to get on camera as we’re the first Southland Conference school to offer the game in live streaming video online.
So, if you’re ready to see the Bearkats dominate, destroy, and decimate the Angelo State (sacrificial) Rams, then GO TO THE GAME!!!
