Uniting the past with the future

A newly formed Student Alumni Association held a pizza social yesterday in an effort to inform students about the benefits of networking while in college and being an active alumnus after graduation.

‘This is the first student alumni group on campus,” said Kristle Castillo, Assistant Director for Membership and Marking of Alumni Relations. “The sky is the limit.”

According to its Web site, the SAA “provides a means for interaction among students, alumni, faculty/staff and the community.”

Benefits include networking opportunities with alumni, board members and guest speakers, networking events, volunteer opportunities and free alumni association items.

“We want to engage our students with our alumni who have successful careers,” Director of Alumni Relations Charlie Vienne said.

The SAA will hold meetings Mondays at 6:00 p.m. in the Alumni Relations office. Meeting dates include October 1st, 15th and November 5th and 19th.

Annual dues cost $15.

The Student Alumni Association will hold a “Sno Cone Social” on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Mall Area.

The SAA will also make appearances at various Bearkat Alley Tailgating events, including the football game on Saturday, October 6th.
