SHSU volleyball set to host undefeated SFA Friday

When the Bearkats play host to Stephen F. Austin this Friday night, the Lumberjacks will be attempting to continue their six-game win streak in conference play while Sam Houston State will be out for the kill.

Despite beginning conference play 3-3, the Sam Houston State volleyball team remains focused on breaking the Lumberjacks’ streak and taking them out of the lead in the West division of the Southland Conference. Even more importantly, defeating the Lumberjacks would deliver a much-needed win to a Bearkats’ team currently floating at .500 and in fourth place in the SLC-West.

Last week, the Bearkats took a pair of losses at Texas State and the University of Texas – Arlington.

The Lumberjacks competed against the same competition, yet fared much better with victories over both Texas-Arlington and Texas State last week

Cynthia Yarotsky leads Sam Houston State in kills with 266, followed by Brittanie Wallace with 174 and Launa McClung with 123.

Lauren Railey leads the Lumberjacks in kills with 253, followed by Shelley Swindig with 205 and Traci Rohde with 173.

If the Lumberjacks take the win on Friday, they will be tied for the longest regular season win streak in SLC history with 58, which Texas-Arlington set in 2001.
