Bearkat OneCard and the Multicultural and International Student Services are hosting the “Ultimate Money Skills” program today at the Lowman Student Center Theater. Speaker Brandon Walker, part of the “Making It Count” program, will be leading the sessions. As well as lecture, the session will be interactive and entertaining for participants.
There will be two lectures at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. The duo-session format is to allow more students the opportunity to attend.
“We wanted to appeal to more students. We were trying to do it at a good time, and also try to get classes to attend,” Kristy Vienne, Director of Bearkat OneCard Services, said.
Catering to the college-age audience, lecture topics will include credit card use, banking, budget strategy, student loans and the importance of identity protection.
“It’s a nationally recognized program, not just something we do here. We wanted to bring it to students to show them the importance of money management,” Vienne said.
As with many other programs, prizes will be offered during the
lecture session. The first 50 to show up to each lecture will receive a free t-shirt. Participants will also be eligible to win a $100 Barnes and Nobles gift card. The organization with the highest participation for the event will be eligible to win a $250 scholarship.
