Campus gears up for Parents’ Weekend

Sam Houston State University will welcome parents for the annual Bearkat Family Weekend this weekend from Friday, Nov. 2 to Sunday, Nov. 4.

Registration, which is now closed, was $5. The fee included a gift at check in, tail-gating, a continental breakfast and the Bearkat Barbeque.

Friday

Events will include the Nicholls State soccer game at 7 p.m. on Intramural Field 3, and the movie Transformers at 7 p.m. in the LSC Theater. The Raven Nest Golf Course will be offering student rates for parents all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

In the Health and Kinesiology Center, the swimming pool will be open until 8 p.m. and the rock wall and fitness center will be open until 10 p.m.

Saturday

Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the LSC mall area and continues through 11:30 a.m. Activities will include “A morning with Administrators” continental breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. in Austin Hall, Cherokee Indian Culture and Crafts from 10-2 in the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, and the Parent’s Association annual meeting from 10-11 in Austin Hall.

The Bearkat Barbeque and Exhibit Hal will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Johnson Coliseum.

From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Classic Car Cruise In will be in the North Lot of Bowers Stadium. From 4-6 p.m. there will be the usual pre-game Bearkat Alley tailgating, also in the North Lot.

The football game against Nicholls State begins at 6 p.m. in Bowers Stadium. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on game day for $10 general admission. Early birds can get tickets at the field house until 4 p.m. on Friday.

In the HKC, the swimming pool will be open from 12-5 p.m., and the rock wall and fitness center will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday

There will be an Interdenominational Christian Worship service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Farrington Pit. There will also be a soccer game against Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m. and a woman’s basketball game against Tarleton State at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Coliseum.

The swimming pool will be open from 1 to 8 p.m., and the fitness center and rock wall will be open from 1 p.m. to midnight.
