SHSU group drops new R&B album

Let the world have J. Holiday, Trey Songz and Keisha Cole. Huntsville has Alienated Outsidaz, a group of Sam Houston State students who are taking R&B to a whole new level. Marcus ‘Hawk’ Hawkins leads the pack of Outsidaz along with Tryus Allen, Jacquingamen Alexander, a.k.a. “The Quiet Storm,” Tomieka Rollins, a.k.a. “T-Lady,” Yung Geno and Brillance.

“The Abduction Mixed Tape, Vol. 1” is the latest project the Outsidaz are working on.

“We’ve been working on the album for about a month and a half,” said Hawk. He’s been recording out of his home studio.

“We write about things right then and there, situations at home, etc. We want to say the hard things without saying it, you know?”

The main inspiration for their music comes from the beautiful essence of women.

“Women man! There’s nothing like a woman, their attitudes, their qualites. Making a woman feel romantic, that’s what it’s about,” said Hawk.

Hawk is doing all of this while taking 18 hours and graduating in December.

“At first we were doing this for fun,” said Hawk. “But too many people are into it, so now we’re doing this for the people.”

You can find the group online at http://www.myspace.com/alienatedoutsidaz1 or check them out Wednesday nights at Insomnia on Sam Houston Ave.
