Student tickets for basketball game to be available Monday

With tickets to the Bearkats’ game against Texas Tech next Wednesday selling like hotcakes, the SHSU Athletic Department decided to allow students to pick up their tickets to the game early. Beginning Monday, students with a valid SHSU I.D. will be able to obtain one of the coveted tickets at the Ron Mafridge Field House at Bowers Stadium or in the LSC mall area from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Tickets for the reserved section of Johnson Coliseum went on sale last Thursday at 8 a.m. and sold out within the hour. According to Assistant Director for Athletic Development Bobby Jordan, the department chose to release the student tickets early due to the high demand the office is already experiencing for tickets to the Bearkats’ match against TTU.

“The tickets will all be general admission, so students can still try and come get them at the door,” Jordan said. “But if you already have your ticket, you will not have to wait in the long lines.”

Jordan also said there is no guarantee there will be tickets available at the door for students on game day because there are a limited number of tickets available.

The doors to Johnson Coliseum will open at 6 p.m. for the game against the Red Raiders, scheduled for 7 p.m. next Wednesday.

The Bearkats open the 2007-2008 season at home this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Dallas Baptist University.
