Students to be ‘under the influence’ of SWAAT

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Initiative will host “Decisions Under the Influence” as a part of “Six Weeks of Alcohol Abuse Training”, or SWAAT, on Thursday, Feb. 21.The event will be held in the LSC room 304 from noon to 1 p.m. S.W.A.A.T. is an ongoing effort by the A.D.A.I. to reduce the effects of drug and alcohol abuse on campus. Students are “trained” through information sessions and can earn prizes for attendance.The “Decisions Under the Influence” attendees will be shown common alcohol-related college scenarios and learn how to make appropriate decisions.Participants will prepare a “survival kit” at the event. The kit includes information about how to deal with alcohol poisoning, date rape, anger, as well as emergency phone numbers and iDrive information. Other ADAI programs and events include the Happy Birthday Bearkat Card, iDrive, the Drug and Alcohol Summit, R.I.D. Week and Smart Start.
