Political Profiles: Clinton

On November 7, 2007, Hillary Clinton was elected to the United States Senate by New York. Clinton made history with her win by becoming the first First Lady of the United States to be elected to the public office, as well as becoming the first woman to be elected independently in New York. When New York was attacked on September 11, 2001, Clinton began working to gather the funds needed for rebuilding. She argued to provide compensation to victim’s families of the terrorist attacks, provide grants to businesses hit hard by the attacks, as well as provide health care for the numerous men and women who helped at Ground Zero. Clinton then began her continuation of improving homeland security for New York and its surrounding communities, as well as protecting all Americans from any further attacks.Clinton’s 2008 Presidential platform on five major issues are as follows:Immigration: “I’m in favor of comprehensive immigration reform, which includes tightening our border security, sanctioning employers to employ undocumented immigrants, getting the 12 million or so immigrants out of the shadows.
