SHSU students were able to play 2K Sports’ newest sports video game, MLB 2K8, Tuesday in the Johnson Coliseum. The event, sponsored by New York-based marketing company City Eventions, gave students the opportunity to test the new, state-of-the-art baseball game for themselves.
The students also received prizes such as t-shirts and jerseys for playing. The biggest prizes were reserved for the winners of numerous mini-tournaments that were held throughout the four-hour event. The champions were rewarded with a brand-new copy of the video game, valued at $59.99, for the game console of their choice.
Program Council Advisor Chuck Collins said approximately 60 students participated throughout the day.
“There were about 20 mini-tournaments,” he said. “The winners could choose between Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo Wii versions of the game.”
